Simple Surgery Recovery

Well, I’ve joined the ranks of the gallbladder-less people…  yep, it was taken out Tuesday – on my schedule, not as an emergency procedure.  I had two episodes that scared the bejeezus out of me and when the sonigram showed gallstones I was right there saying “TAKE IT OUT!”  Have you ever had intense chest pain? The kind that doubles you over and you break out in a sweat?  The first time I just knew that I was having a heart attack – it was the middle of the night, I wasn’t going to wake my DH cause he would go bonkers, so I decided that I would die, right there in my own home, I wasn’t going to the hospital where it is so noisy and loud and impersonal,,,  I just wanted to die.  Well, I didn’t.

Then the next time, a few months later, the same thing happened except it was in the evening.  Luckily DH didn’t see me doubled over or he would have had hysterics and I would be in the ER whether I wanted to be or not.  After this time I KNEW that something was wrong!  So off to the doctor, the sonagram people, the surgeon and Bob’s your Uncle!

Why does the word “gallstones” remind me of something that is in a chicken gizzard??!!

Anyway,, I’m stiff, sore and not just full of pep and energy but not feeling too bad.  At least the nausua I had in the mornings is gone ( NO, I’m not pregnant but someone did ask me that! ).  Now I’m wondering if I can eat whatever I want or if the stories that I hear about getting the digestive tract to work without this particular organ is going to be true.  Without going into too much detail,, maybe I’ll try what I want here at home instead of out in public!  Now, Isn’t this just icky!  I have to go see if I can find a picture to show just what they did,,,  if you’re interested… LOL
